Aunties and Uncles
Aunties and Uncles assist with the general care and training of puppies. Aunties and Uncles report directly to the Regional Puppy Trainers and work closely with the Head Trainer and Puppy Raisers.
Aunties and Uncles must attend an occasional training session to learn and review the skills required to train and work with a puppy.
Aunties and Uncles may assist and attend practices in any region, but they are specifically assigned as assistants to the Regional Puppy Trainers in one region.
Specific responsibilities may include any one or several of the following;
The skills required to volunteer as an Auntie or Uncle include:
Aunties and Uncles must attend an occasional training session to learn and review the skills required to train and work with a puppy.
Aunties and Uncles may assist and attend practices in any region, but they are specifically assigned as assistants to the Regional Puppy Trainers in one region.
Specific responsibilities may include any one or several of the following;
- Assisting and/or handling a dog during training sessions.
- Assisting and/or handling a dog during field trips.
- Assisting and/or handling a dog during fundraisers and other events.
- Taking puppies for short periods to assist Puppy Raisers who are out of town or unable to care for their puppy for a short period.
- Taking puppies for short periods to work on a specific training goal or plan.
- Taking puppies for the day for a socialization exercise or field trip.
- Assisting in the transport of puppies.
The skills required to volunteer as an Auntie or Uncle include:
- Dog training skills or a willingness to attend classes and learn.
- Time and willingness to assist with some, or all, of the above-mentioned responsibilities
